Oscars: France, Pakistan, Iran react to their films’ wins
‘The Artist’s’ success is celebrated (mostly). Pakistan activists are happy ‘Saving Face’ won. ‘A Separation’s’ triumph is seen in different ways in Iran.
A beaming France reacted with pride, and a touch of skepticism, when it woke up on Monday morning to news that a quirky, almost dialogue-free French film had won five Oscars — for best picture, actor, director, costume design and score. "The Artist" passed from being the most Oscar-nominated French film in history to the first to win best picture.
