Afghan Students In America

Afghanistan’s universities were only reestablished in 2001 after the fall of the Taliban. The ministry of higher education is still plagued by a lack of infrastructure, funding, and teachers. As a result, many Afghans students choose to pursue degrees abroad instead. Ruhullah Klapawak studied at Swarthmore College from 2006-2010, and returned to Afghanistan upon graduation. Collin Smith recently called Ruhullah to hear about his experiences and reflections on coming to America for studies.
