Swords and Plowshares

This week on War News Radio, while we take a week of vacation, we bring you a program first aired last summer–Swords and Plowshares.

It’s a frightening and frustrating experience for many American soldiers to discover that the line between friend and foe is so hazy. We’ll hear the story of two soldiers who went to Iraq with good intentions, and who later discovered it was hard sometimes to pick out their enemy from the Iraqis they were trying to help. Listen now to Wren Elhai’s report.

We also hear about a group called Women for Women International, which is helping Iraqi women gain a political and economic foothold in their new nation. Listen now to Amelia Templeton’s report.

Finally, we bring you a brief history of Saddam’s old Iraqi army in another edition of Iraq 101. Listen now to David Mann’s report.

These stories, plus the week’s news, from War News Radio.
