Kirchner hosts Falklands ceremony – Americas – Al Jazeera English

The event comes amid increasingly harsh rhetoric between Argentina and Britain ahead of the anniversary of the war, which broke out April 2, 1982, when the ruling junta in Buenos Aires invaded the islands in an effort to wrest them from British control. Britain has held the islands since 1833.
