Forty-eight countries currently deploy troops as part of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. However, the ISAF is overwhelmingly composed of American and British forces, who together provide 75 percent of the coalition’s troops. Australia is one of the many smaller nations in ISAF, and Alan Zhao and Jared Nolan recently investigated how Australia fits into the overall command and operational structure.
