AP Video: Pentagon Leaders Say Gays Won’t Hurt Military

AP: Gay troops can serve openly in the armed forces without harming the military’s ability to fight, the Pentagon declared Tuesday, calling for ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ ban to be scrapped and pointing to a new survey to show most troops won’t mind. (Nov. 30)
US campaign exceeds Soviet presence in Afghanistan
Posted by: | CommentsThe U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan, as of Friday, has been fighting there for as long as the Soviets did in their attempt to build up a socialist state. The Soviet campaign lasted nine years and 50 days.

Skateistan – Afghanistan’s first skateboarding school
Posted by: | CommentsSkateistan is an Afghan NGO which according to their website “engages growing numbers of urban and internally-displaced youth in Afghanistan through skateboarding, and provides them with new opportunities in cross-cultural interaction, education, and personal empowerment.”
The co-educational school and skateboarding program based in Kabul is the project of Australian Oliver Percovich. Skateistan hopes to provide education and leadership skills to Afghan youth and introduce skateboarding to the region.
